Trefeddian Hotel's Tipping Policy for Guests and Customers
1. Policy Statement
This policy will give clear guidance on how voluntary tips are shared between Trefeddian Hotel (Aberdovey) Ltd and its employees.
2. Purpose
We recognise that tips are often given by our guests and customers as a thank you to our team members for their excellent service and hard work. These tips are given voluntarily and are discretionary. No service charge is levied by the hotel. We acknowledge that team members should be able to benefit from this additional income.
The purpose of this policy is to provide transparency on how tips will be distributed between relevant employees.
3. Procedure
Employee received tips (dining room, housekeeping and hall porters)
Customers may leave discretionary tips directly with these team members. These tips are not managed, controlled or handled by Trefeddian Hotel (Aberdovey) Ltd and are, therefore, not covered by this policy. Team members may keep such tips and it is their responsibility to declare the income for tax purposes to HM Revenue and Customs. These team members are not included in any payments from the Tronc.
Employer received tips (Tronc)
This policy applies to all discretionary tips left voluntarily by guests and customers which the Trefeddian Hotel receives and where we exercise control or significant influence over their distribution, known as ‘Employer Received Tips’. These are distributed amongst all members of the Kitchen department (chefs & kitchen porters), Reception and admin, Night porters, Groundsman, Laundry and Head Housekeeper.
