Reflecting on our year...

It only seems like yesterday that we finished our annual winter renovations and opened our doors, the hotel and staff refreshed and ready to welcome you all, full of anticipation for a fun filled year.

And it has not disappointed, it’s been amazing.

Finally, all covid restrictions were lifted and life at the hotel returned to normality, the “bossy” signs removed from floors and walls, breakfast back to the way it should be and best of all we could see each other’s beautiful faces when masks were binned!

Easter was soon upon us, after three years of not seeing our regular Easter crowd it was like welcoming back a long-lost family.  Babes in arms were now toddling around, teenagers had become charming young people and parents had become grandparents.  A truly magical weekend of celebrations on all accounts, friends reunited, a warm vibrant atmosphere and lots of money raised with the comeback of our treasure hunt, puzzles and raffle.  

More celebrations were held for the late Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee weekend.  The hotel was adorned with bunting, corks were popped, the brass band played and a celebratory afternoon tea was held to commemorate this remarkable occasion.  Great sadness was felt by all when we poignantly lowered our flags to half mast just four months later.  

We were all feeling hot hot hot over the busy summer months, the groundsman diligently watered the terrace and gardens whilst front of house staff worked tirelessly trying to keep everyone hydrated and happy during such unusual British weather!  Our guests loved it though and it was a real treat for those who were staying.  

We have had an exciting year of awards too, starting with the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Award.  It’s thanks to you all for leaving such fabulous reviews based on service, quality and customer satisfaction that we achieved this valued award.  The Good Hotel Guide, Britain’s leading Independent Hotel Guide, also presented us with two awards this year, the Editors Choice Awards for Golfing and Seaside Hotel, Alongside this, our fabulous breakfasts were also recognised by the AA who awarded us with the esteemed Breakfast Award for the third consecutive year adding to our wall of fame!

So as another year draws to a close and we welcome our annual break we would like to thank all our guests and staff for making it such a truly amazing year.
