Embracing October Half Term
October Half Term can paint a bleak picture of miserable damp days and bored children. But that needn’t be the case with a stay at the Trefeddian. There is plenty to do for the whole family - from teeny tiny ones, to grumpy teens - and even better when you don’t even need to leave the front door to keep them entertained.
We have cupboards full of board games and jigsaws, as well as a fun games room with air hockey, pool tables and table tennis - perfect for a family tournament. Or you could lose the children for a few hours while you “cwtch” up in one of our cosy lounges with a hot chocolate and relax knowing they’re happy and safe. A splash around in the pool will be sure to tire them out, and if it's dry and bright (we’re ever hopeful!), the tennis court and putting green are great family fun.
If cabin fever sets in, then pop on your wellie bobs, wrap up warm and venture down to the beach to fly a kite or build a sandcastle. Explore the golden sandy beach for sea life and shells or walk the four miles of shoreline to Tywyn if you’re feeling really energetic.
If the kids are getting a bit cranky, there are some fantastic attractions near the hotel.
Our favourite by far is the fabulous Talyllyn Railway just up the road in Tywyn. Tywyn is also home to the incredible Magic Lantern Cinema, an awesome experience before you even watch a movie. With treats served at your table by the friendly staff, this really is a cinema like no other. Choose from a selection of delicious savoury treats; a sumptuous cheese board, nachos with guacamole or a traditional box of popcorn to name just a few. For those with a sweet tooth, build your own ice cream sundae from a huge list of yummy toppings or choose from a massive range of sweet or chocolate bowls. Sounding good? Corris Craft Centre
If you’re feeling like it’s gin o’clock after a few days away with the family, then a trip to Corris Craft Centre and Dyfi Distillery has to be done. Just a few miles from the hotel, you will find a fun afternoon out, with wonderful workshops to keep the children entertained, underground adventures sailing through magical waterfalls and most importantly - gin. Not for the little ones though, obviously!
Bounce Below
If you feel like travelling further afield to keep the peace between siblings, a trip to Bounce Below in Blaenau Ffestiniog is fabulous fun for everyone. Unleash your inner thrill seeker on the enormous underground net adventure and slide through the disused mine. For the more adventerous, check out Zip World, soaring high above disused quarries - this is not for the faint hearted!
