National Parks Week - 16th-24th April 2023

This week, we celebrate everything wonderful about Eryri.

  1. Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park covers 827 square miles. ‘Eryri’, the Welsh name, is Wales’ largest national park 
  2. It has been recognised as a National Park is since 1951
  3. The National Park covers 11,000 hectares of woodland, 37 miles of coastline, has 1,497 miles of routes to explore and has nearly 4 million visitors each year 
  4. There is a total of 9 mountain ranges in Eryri. Snowdon is the highest in the range and also the highest in Wales at 3560ft (1,090m) 
  5. Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is home to Wales’ largest lake, Bala Lake, which covers 1.87 square miles 
  6. 26,000 people live within the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, of whom 58% are Welsh speakers 
  7. Crib Goch is the wettest spot in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park with an average rainfall of 4,473mm each year
