Sandcastles

Build a sandcastle

Aberdyfi beach has absolutely everything for a beach lover. Huge dunes, fine, powdery white sand, and the all-important wet sand when the tide goes out - perfect for making amazing sandcastles. Grab your buckets and spades from reception, be as creative as you can, and see who can build the greatest sandcastle.

Fly a kite

For hours of fun, one of the best activities is flying a kite. Aberdyfi is unspoiled with four miles of fine, sandy beaches and sheltered dunes. It is a huge expanse which stretches several miles from the Dovey Estuary and harbour of Aberdyfi, to the north, seaside town of Tywyn. When there is a breeze on the coast, there is no better place to send a kite soaring through the air.

Find the fairies

Ynysmaengwyn, just outside Tywyn, is a woodland that has a hidden fairy glen for you to discover, a secret walled garden, the remains of the once grand mansion (owned by the Corbett Family of Tywyn), a park and a dovecote - and all of these cost absolutely nothing

Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre, located just outside Aberystwyth, is well-known for its daily feeding of red kites at 2pm in winter and 3pm in summer. There is no charge to watch the feeding. The centre also has trails for walkers, mountain bikes and runners. As well as all that, Bwlch Nant yr Arian also has an animal puzzle trail and two playgrounds, so you can really make the most of your day out.
